Hi guys, I'm an old guy, grew up on the C=64
I'm wondering if anyone has put together a
Step-by-Step to setup the GB64 on my computer.
I have thousands of the commodore programs
on my hard drive, and don't get along well with
programs like Vice and others. I'd like to setup
the frontend but I'm working from scratch here.

Any help will be greatly appreciated !

Yeah, maybe I can help.

What's your question? Where are you starting from?

you need the official GB64 C64 Game collection,
for the GBC_v07 gamebase to work.

it will NOT work with your own collection, unless you make a gamebase for it.

the best thing to do is download the official GB64 v07 Torrent

http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/5347790/Gamebase_64_V07

the torrent is also available from
www.Underground-gamer.com

But you need to be a member for this site.
i can invite you, but you need to know the rules about seeding torrents first.

Yeah, pretty much what he said there.

OTOH, if he has a copy of the 'GBC_v07.mdb' file, but not all the games or anything else except for the games he already has, couldn't he just Verify Available Files? But then I guess he'd have to have his games rather all together in some folder for the games to be picked up by the GameBase? And of course this leads to the question of whether or not he has that database file....

All-in-all though (and barring having the 'GBC_v07.mdb' file [the Official GameBase64 v7 database]), he would, as you said, either have to create his own .mdb file, his own database, or simply acquire the Collection.

And no worries about the Collection. Whatever games you have are likely to also be in the Collection too. AND it's just a great *beep*in' Collection anyway! hehehe

For example guys, I did dl the big collection (GB V7 and there are literally thousands of files already in there, but as an example, Impossible Mission, Boulderdash, etc arent in there, but I have those and thousands others on a CD and would like to batch load them into the gamebase frontend. That's the prob I'm having. Is that possible other than doing the "file/add game/" one at a time method?

Thanks, JB

Impossible Mission
http://www.gb64.com/game.php?id=3731&d=18&h=0

Boulderdash
http://www.gb64.com/game.php?id=994&d=18&h=0

you will notice the download link is missing from the website, as the copyright is still in effect.
But the file is the torrent collection you say you have.

you will find it in the following directory....
Games/B2/BDASH01_00994_01.zip

there are 20,109 playable games in the gb64 v7 collection.
out of all your collections on CD. i would be very surprised if you had more than 1 or 2 of the missing games.

you can use Romcenter http://www.romcenter.com/ to create a data file of you disk images,
then import that into gamebase toolbox.

you can also use DATUtil in a command window.
http://www.logiqx.com/DatFAQs/DatCreation.php
to do the same thing.

this will create a list of your FILE NAMES linked.
so if the name of the archive is disk 109.d64, that will be the name in the gamebase list.
