Everytime when I start a game I have to select the joystick
in the VICE Emulator. Is there a way to preset it on the Gamebase frontend so the joystick is already selected when I start a game?

From GB, in the GEMUS meenu, select the VICE emulator. In the GEMUS script find the contol section that starts with ";set the game controls". Replace "If %gamefile% CONTAINS(*)" with "If %gamefile% CONTAINS(<DISABLED>)"
When you run VICE, set teh joystick the way you like and save current settings through the settings menu. The joystick will not automatically switch to the correct port (1 or 2) unless you read the GEMUS script for info on how to set the controls. So you will still need to switch the joystick port in VICE for many games.
