|
|
I just got the new GameBase 64 v7 and am using v1.3 of the frontend with it. (They're very awesome, BTW )
I had trouble getting a game to autostart via WinVICE64 v2.2. After many tries and changing of whatever settings I could find, I finally got it right. But it left my count of Games Played in the About box all wrong. It says something like Games Played: 19, when I actually didn't play the game at all yet--that was just a lotta testing and stuff.
How can I reset this number back to zero (or whatever number I'd like to fill-in)? Same with the Music Played value--how can I reset it?
I looked all over in all kinds of .INI files, but couldn't seem to find what I was looking for. Help, help, help! Thanks! _________________ "My mind is going, Dave--I can feel it!" |

It's the same procedure as in GameBase V1.2:
Press Ctrl+F3 and select Reset Times Played to reset this for the current game.
Press Shift+Ctrl+F3, select Times Played, select the Fields Tab and select Reset Times Played to reset it for all games in the current view. |

No, no. I mean the frontend's counting of any and all games that have been booted via the frontend that's listed in the About box that's accessed from the Help drop-down menu in the Menu Bar. It's listed just under how many times the frontend has been run.
Please help! _________________ "My mind is going, Dave--I can feel it!" |

It's in the Window Registry.
For Gamebase 1.2, browse to this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\GB64\GameBase\GameBase\<Collection_Name>\Stats
For Gamebase 1.3, the key to browse to is:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GB64\GameBase\GameBase\<Collection_Name>\Stats
The number can be found (and reset to 0 or another value) in the REG_DWORD value TotalGamesPlayed. |

Cool! Thank you!
But how do I browse Window's Registry? I've never, ever done that before. (I'm using WinXP Pro, SP3.) _________________ "My mind is going, Dave--I can feel it!" |

Click the Start button, Click Run..., type regedit and press Enter.
Browse to the right key in the left pane, like you would do when browsing folders in Windows Explorer.
Select the last key (Stats) by clicking on it. In the right pane you will see the contents of the Stats key.
Double click on TotalGamesPlayed and overwrite the number with anything you like (for example 0).
Quit Regedit. Finished! |

Okay, so I know how to reset like the number in the "Times Played" field in the GameBase v1.3--e.g., set {x} value to the value of 0, no problemo.
But what if a game's been played once or more (having a value of 1 or higher) and I do a screw-up and I need to, say, reduce the Times Played value by 1 (or whatever value)?
Ya know, say I've played Paradroid 6 times, and then screw-up the 7th boot. The Times Played now reads 7. But I want it to read 6 rather than it being reset to 0.
How can I do that?
Thanks! _________________ "My mind is going, Dave--I can feel it!" |

you can't do it from Gamebase or the registry.
you need to edit the mdb file in Microsoft Access or something similar.
then change Times Played to the number you want.
but the fact is you played Paradroid 7 times not 6.
so why lie about it.
you little cheater. |
