I recognize some of them, they're there under the tap folder (which itself is located in extras)

Yeah, many games are only added as TAP images currently. So it's entirely possible all of those are present, but not as detached PRG.

So the TAP games are not accessible from the main GB frontend? They don't seem to be, unless I am missing some setting. I did a verify and it says all games, pictures, and extras are found.

of course, they are
But you have to use the button "Extras" and then the "Tap".
Same for cartridge-images. Select "Extras"and "CART".
Only prg-files can be started on the "Play Game" - Button.

Much appreciated. I downloaded it today and I'm happy :), but I see different colors in games, 2 examples:

Countdown:

- window mode:

- full screen:
Image
In fact these colors look nicer to me ;)

Blitz:

- window mode:

- full screen:

My system: Win'7 x64, Direct-X 11, Nvidia Geforce 7900GS.
Is this something with configuration of emulator ?

That's a problem with Windows 7 (or DX11) and some video drivers. I have the same color issue with several emulators running full screen on Windows 7.

I've just run into the same problem regarding the reversed color with a couple small shooters. I just installed Windows 7 last month, and a couple games that used to play fine in XP now do the same thing as the screenshots above. In windowed mode, the games play fine, but in fullscreen mode, the colors are reversed, just like above. It has to be a Windows 7 thing - I'm using the latest Nvidia drivers. I wish somebody could help me figure out what is wrong. I've tried everything I could think of with no luck.

I've found a solution for anybody having an issue with reversed colors when in fullscreen mode in Windows 7. It is a problem with DirectDraw. There are 2 ways to solve this:

1. Create a batch file (make a .txt file and then rename it to .bat) with the following line:

Code: Select all

taskkill /f /im explorer.exe
That will kill Windows explorer. You can then run the problem games/emulators with the correct colors. To restart Windows explorer, bring up the task manager, click on file>new task, and enter explorer.exe.

Note that as soon as you kill explorer, your desktop will vanish until you restart explorer, so what I do is have the task manager and emulator already up and running before I kill explorer - those will remain visible. Otherwise, you will not be able to browse to a folder to open your emulator.

2. The second way is with the "DirectDraw compatibility tool" that somebody wrote to address this problem. You click the exe, and point it to the emulator or game .exe you want to patch. You only have to do this once, and then it is done. Now it will run fullscreen in the correct colors. This creates a registry entry for that particular .exe that tells Windows to run DirectDraw correctly for that particular .exe file. That has worked for me with 2 games I've tried it on (old schmups).

Here is a link to the file:

Code: Select all

http://narod.ru/disk/26142359000/DirectDraw_Compatibility_Tool_1.01.zip.html
Hope this helps.

I use W7 and have not had this issue, but it's useful to know should it occur for anyone else.

I think this is the only working current link for the latest (v0.3) release: https://robert.hurst-ri.us/downloads/

I am trying to progress towards a v1.0 release with support for VICE 3.x, but time has not been good for me, and I will likely need to hand things over to someone else when it is ready!
